Qualifications / Experience: Steve has a Bachelor’s degree in marine biology and freshwater pollution ecology (1986) and a doctorate in fish ecology (1990). He has spent more than 35 years trying to understand and solve fisheries management issues and marine conservation concerns with fishing communities, government authorities, non-government organisations, consultancies, bilateral donors and multiday lateral agencies in India, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. T. Sutharsan

Regional Coordinator - Northern Province

Qualifications / Experience: Sutharsan has worked with pelagikos since 2014. He is responsible for coordinating pelagikos programmes with fishing communities and the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources' Fisheries District Offices in Kilinochchi, Jaffna and Mullaithivu. Sutharsan's work includes implementing the blue swimming crab fisheries project, actions to deter illegal fishing by Tamil Nadu and Sri Lankan trawlers, coastal fisheries assessments and conservation outreach programmes. Sutharsan is based in our regional office in Jaffna Town.
